BAPTISM | FIRST EUCHARIST AND RECONCILIATION
Dan Thraen | |
Baptism is the first of the three sacraments that initiate us into the Catholic Church. The baptism of your child is a very important event in his/her life. In baptism original sin is washed away. In baptism you become a Christian and a member of the Church. Baptism is required for all other sacraments. First Eucharist and Confirmation are the other Sacraments of Initiation. Reconciliation is a sacrament of healing. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the priest extends to us the forgiveness of sins. The priest takes the place of Christ and the community. Eucharist, a sacrament of initiation, joins us most fully to Christ and to the Church. We share in the one sacrifice of Christ. The bread and wine become the BODY and BLOOD OF CHRIST through the power of the Holy Spirit and the words of the priest. We receive the Body and Blood of Christ at every Mass we attend. | |
