BAPTISM | FIRST EUCHARIST AND RECONCILIATION
Baptism | ||
According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life. It is for this reason that we begin the initiation process with an evening of preparation for expectant parents. The sessions are held at All Saints Parish and the sessions are usually in the evening every other month. You will learn everything you need to know to prepare for your child's Baptism. The parents make the decision to baptize their child, thus initiating him/her into the life of the Church. Moreover, they make the promise to teach the faith and raise the child according to Catholic principles. The parents of the child to be baptized should be registered members of the parish and should be regularly attending Sunday Mass. Godparents have the role of assisting the parents to raise children in the Catholic faith. The godparents must be at least 16 years of age, baptized and confirmed, and practicing Catholics. It is possible for a non-Catholic to be chosen as a Christian witness, provided that they are a baptized Christian. Baptisms are celebrated after the 10:30 Mass on Sundays. Parents who wish to have a child baptized should contact All Saints parish. It is required that the parents attend an evening preparation course. Call the parish office for the date and time of the classes. There is a $25.00 sacramental fee at the time of registration.
REQUIREMENTS: We ask that one of the parents be a baptized Catholic. The same is true for godparents. One of the godparents must be a baptized Catholic who has received the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist/Communion, and Confirmation). All three sacraments are not necessary for the parent, but we highly recommend that the parent consider completing the sacraments of Initiation through RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). The family needs to be registered members of All Saints Church. Registration forms are available in the parish office or on the website here. At the pre-baptism session you will fill out a form that will be verification you have completed the requirements. You can then schedule the baptism for any Sunday either during Mass or after Mass. Call the parish secretary, 363-6130, to schedule that time. We welcome you and your child as a part of our faith community!
